Published 2:33pm Tuesday, December 11, 2012

Benjamin Russell boys and girls basketball will host Auburn High School tonight at the Benjamin Russell High School gymnasium.
The Wildcats (1-3) played Childersburg last night with scores unavailable for press time, and are coming off of  a last place finish in the Pepsi Clasic this past weekend at Dadeville High School.
The Benjamin Russell boys lost to eventual tournament champion Dadeville High School Friday night and lost to Class 2A county rival Horseshoe Bend Saturday afternoon in the consolation finals.
The Wildcats are young this year and are yet to find a consistent and viable scoring threat but have gotten consistent minutes from senior forwards Javoskie McNeal and Woo Varner, as well as junior point guard Ronnie Stacy.
The Lady Wildcats (3-1) won the girls side of the 2012 Pepsi Classic with a Friday win over Dadeville High School and a title game victory over Central-Coosa Saturday afternoon.
Head coach Ron Rowe has a young squad that continues to get used to the roles necessary to win games, including sophomore point guard Chloe Owens, who is taking over for Tee Buckner who graduated at the end of last year.
Along with Owens, the Lady Wildcats are getting strong early play from juniors Aaliyah Lawson, Cookie Kelley and Jernika Russell.
The Lady Wildcats lost to Sylacauga 60-36 in their second game of the season and were at Childersburg last night with scores unavailable at press time.
Benjamin Russell and Auburn begin games at 5 p.m. tonight at the Benjamin Russell High School gymnasium.
