DONALD R. DENNY age 79 of Snellville, Georgia and Dadeville, Alabama, passed away, Sunday, December 2, 2012. Born August 16, 1933 in Dadeville, Alabama, Donald Denny graduated from Dadeville High School in 1951, served in the U.S. Air Force (USAF) from 1953-1957, and graduated from Auburn University (Alabama Polytechnic Institute) in 1959. He married his childhood sweetheart Lila Corprew in 1955 in Chambley, France while stationed in the USAF.  He loved Miss Lila faithfully until his passing.

They are the parents of three children: Deborah (Dale) Relyea of Fayetteville, GA; Don (Kelly) Denny of Monroe, GA; Teresa (Keith) Holcombe of Loganville, GA. His foundation for living was his faith in God.  In Dadeville, AL, Birmingham, AL, LaGrange, GA and Snellville, GA where he resided 45 years, he participated actively in a local Baptist church, served on committees and as an ordained deacon.  He loved reading the Bible and inspiring others to live for Christ. A man of faith, honesty, integrity and generosity, he loved God, people, his family, performing acts of kindness, building business relationships and Auburn University football.  His college degree in Business Administration equipped him for his sales career beginning with Genesco Shoe Co., then McWane Cast Iron Pipe Co. in Birmingham, AL.  He went on to establish Denny and Associates in GA, and Utilities Supply, Inc., now located in Winder, GA.  In the field of municipal water and gas systems, he became a well-known and respected consultant.  He chaired the scholarship committee for the Georgia Rural Water Association, and worked at his business office until a few weeks prior to his passing at age 79. Donald Denny?s wit and personality encouraged others and left memorable impressions.  His generosity reached those he casually met, the Baptist churches he joined, various Christian ministries as well as the Dadeville, AL schools where he funded special projects.  He enjoyed surprising others with financial gifts for charitable causes.  He and Miss Lila stayed connected with their hometown of Dadeville, and often spent time there at their ‘cottage in the woods,’ a retreat near his beloved Auburn. In addition to his wife and children, survivors include five grandchildren:  Jordan Bryan, Ethan Bryan, Elena Denny, Daniel Denny and Tyler Denny; sister Juanita (Ray) Spraggins of Albany, GA and brother,  Gerald (Mary Lee) Carter of Dadeville, AL, and extended family. A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Tim Stewart Funeral Home, Snellville Chapel.  Visitation will be Friday, December 7, 2012 from 4-7 PM and Saturday, December 8, 2012 from 12:30-1:30 PM.  In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the church or charity of your choice. Appreciation is extended to the caring staff of Embracing Hospice, Snellville. Tim Stewart Funeral Home, 2246 Wisteria Drive, Snellville, Georgia 30078. 770-979-5010.
