After gridiron, hoops season begins at BRHS Friday night

Benjamin Russell High Schools loss to Spanish Fort last Friday night in the Class 5A football quarterfinals marked the end of the season, meaning that students and fans will turn their attention to the upcoming 2012 basketball season.
The continuation of the football season created some changes in the early part of the BRHS basketball schedule including the cancellation of games last night against Talladega and another game scheduled tonight vs. Sylacauga.
The game against Sylacauga  has been rescheduled to Dec. 3 at home in the Benjamin Russell gymnasium.
Also on their schedule before the January dates are the annual Pepsi Classic at Dadeville High School, as well as games vs. Auburn High School and at Talladega before taking on Booker T. Washington and Valley in area play in late December.
Wildcat varsity basketball will conclude their schedule through December at the Shane’s Rib Shack Holiday Tournament in Kathleen, Ga. from Dec. 27 – Dec. 29.
Benjamin Russell opens up their 2012 season this coming Friday night against Central-Coosa at Benjamin Russell High School.
The Cougars are 1-0 on the season with a win over Dadeville High School last Friday night 57-52.
