Ladies Auxiliary plans Christmas giveaway Dec. 15

Published 12:20pm Tuesday, November 27, 2012

Christmas isn’t the easiest time of year for those who are pinching pennies, but the Daviston Ladies Auxiliary wants to help with a Christmas giveaway.

“Any family that comes to us with a need, we’ll do our best to meet that need,” said auxiliary President Vivian Kirk.

Kirk said the auxiliary has done the giveaway for several years. This year it will be Dec. 15 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Daviston Baptist Church on Highway 22 across from the post office. It is open to any family throughout the community.

“Each child will get a new toy,” Kirk said. “We try to help our families have a good Christmas.”

Parents can come to the giveaway and write down their children’s genders and ages, and then “Santa” will choose a toy for their children.

Adults will also be able to choose what they need from a selection of good quality used clothes, shoes, household items and Christmas items.

For more information on the giveaway, call Kirk at 256-397-0191.
