Mr. Stone passed away in the loving arms of Jesus at Russell Medical Center on November 22, 2012. Buddy was born on January 26, 1930 to Ocie Decatur Stone and Sarah Ollie Downer Stone of the Hackneyville Community.
Buddy had a large family with 11 brothers and 9 sisters. He was a self taught barber training many others in the community who longed to learn the trade.
He worked for Russell Mills and was a salesman for Bice Chevrolet retiring from there after many years of service. He loved staying involved in politics, once even working for Gov. George and Lurline Wallace. Buddy loved to fish.
He loved traveling with his dear loving wife, Frances Ann Flournoy Stone, whom he was blessed to be married to for 65 years. They enjoyed visiting the resident at Bill Nichol’s Veteran Home every Tuesday singing and sharing the gospel.
He and Frances attended service regularly at The Church of Christ in Alexander City.
He loved the Lord and loved reading and studying the Bible with everyone.
Mr. Stone is survived by his precious wife, Frances Ann Flournoy Stone, son, Durell( Sarah) Stone,, daughters, Delores (Jerry) Ogletree, Delbra (Dale) Barker, Grandchildren, Heather Barker (Richard) Moore, Chad (Stephanie) Ogletree, Amanda Barker (Tim) O’Hara, Alyson Ogletree, Barry (Carla) Stone, Jarred Ogletree, Jill Stone (Kenneth) Adams, John David (Margaret) Payne, Great Grandchildren, Leighann Futral, Isaiah and Amelia Moore, Janson Ogletree, and Carley Crowe, Brother, Joseph Stone and Sister, Daisy Stone Mahan, many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral servies for Isaiah “Buddy” Stone , age 82, of Alexander City were held at 1:00 pm, Sunday, November 25, 2012 at the Alexander City Church of Christ. Ministers John David Parker and Jim Cullins officiated . Entombment followed at the Hillview Memorial Park. The family received friend on Saturday, November 24, 2012 from 6-8 pm at Bass Funeral Home.
Bass Funeral Home was honored to serve the Stone family.
