Final farmer’s market slated for Saturday

Published 11:36am Friday, November 16, 2012

MainStreet Alexander City’s Thanksgiving Market will give patrons one final chance to purchase fresh local produce Saturday.

“This is the last one (farmer’s market) we do each year,” said Richard Wagoner, executive director. “Everyone looks forward to it because it’s the last one of the season and gives people a chance to purchase fresh food for Thanksgiving.”

The eighth annual Thanksgiving Market will be held on Broad Street from 9 a.m. until noon this Saturday, Nov. 17.

Wagoner said items available will include fall produce, sweet potatoes, greens, baked goods, breads, cakes, cookies, eggs, honey, pecans, jams, jellies, relishes, salsa and goat cheeses.

“We will have a variety of goat cheeses available this year,” Wagoner said. “They are great for entertaining.”

Wagoner said the event usually draws a large crowd.

“We usually have a good turnout,” Wagoner said. “We hope people come out this Saturday and support our local producers.”
