We will protect Big Bird

Published 10:14am Thursday, October 25, 2012

Dear Editor,

I represent all the children and all their programs. I repeat, children’s programs are for children only. When you hear a candidate running for the president of the United States threatening to take government money from a program that I watched next door as a little girl because we didn’t have TV is personal to me.

As you know, no one will threaten PBS or Big Bird ever again. Sesame Street will be secure for future children to watch and learn their ABC’s, numbers and shapes.

This is a very good program. No one – and I mean no one – ever targeted PBS or Sesame Street. This is called greed. Cut everything, no matter whom it hurts.

Well, no more of this out-of-control leadership. We will change the policy and find the necessary tools to protect PBS from future problems like this ever happening again. We will continue to fund PBS and keep Sesame Street and Big Bird.

He made Big Bird more famous by singling him out personally like he is to blame. I am outraged about people in power who are serving the wrong people.

We will not play politics with a program as famous and historic as PBS Sesame Street is. We will protect this program and continue funding it.

Big Bird can survive without his government check. I honestly wouldn’t care if Sesame Street went away. Maybe then some of these parents would have to be parents again. So many parents just put their kids in front of the TV and forget about them.
