Holt earns Week 6 AHSAA Spotlight Honors
Published 9:19am Wednesday, October 10, 2012Horseshoe Bend senior linebacker and runningback Luke Holt earned Alabama High School Athletic Association Spotlight Honors for the second time this season with his performance last week in the Generals’ 21-20 victory over Lafayette High School.
The senior tallied 17 total tackles defensively and added two rushing touchdowns for Horseshoe Bend as the Generals are tied for the best start through six games in school history with the 1996 HBHS team.
On the season, Holt leads the local area in total tackles with 84, one ahead of Dadeville High School defensive tackle Rod Crayton.
Holt is also tied for eighth in the local area with teammate Damien Milliner for total touchdowns with five on the 2012 season.
The accolades have come for the second time this season for Holt, who earned AHSAA Spotlight Honors in Week 4 of this year.
Horseshoe Bend’s Cory Battle was also briefly mentioned in the Spotlight Honors, as Holt’s senior classmate racked up 176 total yards in the win over Lafayette.
HBHS (5-1) is at home this coming Friday night vs. Prattville Christian Academy.
