Cougars go for third win at homecoming

Published 9:55am Tuesday, October 9, 2012

An overtime loss last week at Tarrant High School erased the chance of the Central-Coosa High School football team playing for a .500 record Friday night at homecoming in Hanover, but the Cougars still want to have success.
“I think it will be a good crowd and we’ve got a chance to win a homecoming game for the first time in a while,” Central head coach Richard Bell said.
“The guys want to go out and do it for the community and school.”
The Cougars will host 1-5 Montevallo Friday night, who is coached by former Alabama quarterback Andrew Zow.
“(Zow’s) got some younger guys that he is working with and implementing a new system,” said Bell of Montevallo.
“Our guys need to be ready for a game.”
A win Friday night would give Central three wins in a season since 2007, and the Cougars can do it in front of a homecoming crowd Friday night.
“If our focus is in the right place and we play tough on defense and not just offense, we’ll have a good chance,” Bell said.
Central and Montevallo are set for a 7 p.m. kickoff Friday.
