Goodwater City Fest returns; set for Saturday

Published 11:07am Saturday, September 22, 2012

An annual City Fest in Goodwater has been on hiatus the past few years, but it will make its return Saturday, Sept. 22.

“We’re just starting back,” said Goodwater Pride Organization chairperson Elizabeth Carwell. “We just wanted to do something that the community could come out and enjoy.”

Carwell said they haven’t done the festival in the past four years or so, but they have a number of activities lined up for this year’s event.

“We just want it to be an enjoyable, safe day,” Carwell said.

The Goodwater City Fest will take place in downtown Goodwater and is free to enter. Nineteen different performances are scheduled, including soloists, praise dancers, gospel groups and rappers as well as others.

“We always try to have a variety of entertainment so everyone can enjoy,” Carwell said.

The day will also feature a health screening and vendors. Carwell said people are welcome to bring blankets and lawn chairs, or they can purchase tables ranging in price from $50 to $200 depending on vicinity to the stage.

The festival will begin at noon and last until 8 p.m., and Carwell said they are hoping for a large crowd.

“I think they’ll most enjoy just being able to come together as one,” Carwell said.
