ABC Board makes bust
Published 8:29am Saturday, September 15, 2012A joint effort from law enforcement bodies led to five alcohol- and drug-related arrests in Alexander City.
Alabama ABC Board enforcement agents from District 5 in Auburn and District 10 in Montgomery, the Alexander City Police Department, Tallassee Police Department K-9 unit, Alabama Marine Police, Alabama State Troopers, the Tallapoosa County Drug Task Force and deputies from the Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Department participated in an undercover alcohol and drug operation at three unlicensed premises in Alexander City on J and N streets Sept. 9.
The ABC Enforcement District in Auburn and the ACPD planned the operation after receiving numerous complaints from the community, and agents were successful at purchasing alcoholic beverages from these unlicensed locations on multiple occasions.
Officers arrested Herman Right, Noble Nixon, Elois Russell and Tanya Harrison on 16 separate charges, including sale of alcohol without a license, possession of alcohol for sale without a license, second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and sale of alcohol on Sunday.
A fifth person, age 80, was ticketed and released.
More than 30 grams of marijuana, 300 beers and five bottles of liquor were confiscated in the raid.
“We would like to thank all the agencies involved for their support with this successful operation,” said ABC Sergeant Todd Hall in a release. This was truly a team effort by all the agencies involved. Without their help and cooperation, this operation would not have been possible.”
