First road trip of 2012

Coming off of a 42-6 region opening win against Marbury, the Benjamin Russell Wildcats will face their first road test of the 2012 season tonight when they go on the road to Booker T. Washington in Tuskegee.
“They’ve got some athletes that make plays so if they get in space, they’ll be gone,” said BRHS head coach Danny Horn, whose Wildcats are 2-0.
Washington is 0-2 and has allowed an average of 52.5 points per game so far this season, including a 46-19 defeat against region front-runner Eufaula last week.
Benjamin Russell will come into tonight’s game after the best passing performance of junior quarterback Bryant Horn’s three year career under center.
The BRHS signal caller was 11-of-14 for 220 yards in last weeks victory, something that coach Horn knows the Wildcats are capable of.
“We are going to throw the ball a good bit this year because we can,” Horn said.
“The offensive line is getting better every week and the running game will come along as we get further into the season.”
BRHS is led in rushing by senior Quez Alvies, who has 107 yards on 24 carries in two games this season.
“We want to be region champions his year and this game is another step for us to do that,” Horn added.
“This is a big game.
“It’s like I told the guys this week, if they don’t think it’s a big game, then lose it and they’ll find out how important it is.”
BRHS and B.T. Washington are set for a 7 p.m. tonight at Eagles Stadium in Tuskegee.
