Lady Wildcat volleyball on top in area

Benjamin Russell High School volleyball started 2-0 in area play with a victory over Chilton County High School Tuesday night on the road.
The Lady Wildcats finished with scores of 25-10, 25-4 and 25-11 against Chilton County, as they now have the upper-hand in area play with a 10-3 overall record and 2-0 in the area.
Senior Tatum Gandy had six aces, while Jernika Russell and Cookie Kelley both added three aces.
Aryel Freeman had 20 serves in the win, as Russell added 12 kills and two blocks and sophomore Chloe Owens had five kills.
“It’s good to be 2-0 in area, but at times we are still playing flat volleyball,” BRHS head coach Pam Robinson said.
“We’re looking forward to hosting some good teams (today).”
BRHS will host their second home match of the season today against Opelika and Robert E. Lee at the BRHS gym beginning at 4 p.m.
