BRHS volleyball continues hot streak
Published 10:24am Tuesday, September 4, 2012Benjamin Russell High School volleyball has found themselves in the Class 5A AHSAA rankings heading into week three of the 2012 season.
The No. 6 Lady Wildcats currently stand at 7-2 headed into today’s match at Class 6A Carver-Montgomery.
Coming off their best ever finish in the annual Briarwood Christian School tournament two weeks ago, the Lady Wildcats held their first on-campus match in two years last week when they hosted Smiths Station, as Benjamin Russell topped the Lady Panthers in three straight matches to win their third straight match.
The Lady Wildcats made it four straight with a win over Class 6A Auburn High School last Thursday on the road, pushing their match win streak to four straight.
Benjamin Russell is led by a plethora of returning athletes from last years squad.
Led by senior setter Tatum Gandy and classmate Sada Hutchins, as well as juniors Cookie Kelley, Jernika Russell and Aaliyah Lawson, the Lady Wildcats will look to establish their area dominance this coming Thursday as they open their region schedule on the road at Marbury.
BRHS volleyball returns home vs. Opelika next Thursday (9/13) at 4 p.m.
