Tuggle, Peace to talk Medicaid at Eggs & Issues
Published 12:06pm Thursday, August 30, 2012Members of the Alexander City Chamber of Commerce are hoping the community will become more informed after an Eggs and Issues Breakfast on the topic of the Alabama Medicaid Amendment.
“We’d love to have a good crowd so that we can become educated on the issue and get all the answers,” said Chamber President and CEO Marvin Wagoner.
The breakfast will at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall on 64 Court Square in Alexander City at 7:30 a.m. Sept. 6.
“Mr. Jim Peace will speak on the behalf of how Medicaid will be affected with or without the transfer of the general trust funds,” Wagoner said.
State Representative Mark Tuggle will also speak at the breakfast, and Wagoner said there will be time for citizens to ask questions and learn the pros and cons of voting for or against the amendment.
Wagoner said they have had an Eggs and Issues breakfast any time there is “a good topic that’s pertinent that we need to talk about right away,” Wagoner said.
The breakfast is $8 for chamber members and $12 for the general public. Reservations are required by Sept. 4 and can be made by calling 256-234-3461, by emailing joanne@alexandercitychamber.com or by going by the Alexander City Chamber of Commerce.

I find it interesting and disconcerting that the Chamber has only invited proponents for the Amendment to speak at their meetings and have not asked any of the opponents of the amendment to rebut the orchestrated PAC sponsored mantra. Mr. Wagoner is fully aware that there is another point of view beyond that of the two scheduled speakers on the Amendment issue. If the public wants to get the balanced truth, they will have to do it on their own and read the letters to the editor in the Outlook and the B”ham News. I am not surprised but am disappointed in our Chamber leadership in this matter. I encourage the citizens of Alex City to educate themselves as best they can. Don’t trust the State, City or Chamber leaderships to do it.
