Generals set for 2012 kickoff

Published 11:46am Thursday, August 30, 2012

The threat of Hurricane Isaac hasn’t deterred the Horseshoe Bend Generals from hosting longtime rival Wadley tonight in New Site.
“We want to start the season off on the right foot and I think that playing Wadley also brings the rivalry factor into it,” HBHS head coach Jason Franklin said.
“We’re excited as a program.”
The Generals are coming off of a strong showing in their jamboree with a win over county rival Dadeville and have a strong amount of talent returning.
Quarterback Chase Cheaney and receivers Cory Battle, Jay Glenn and Corey Glenn as well as runningback Luke Holt are some of the athletes that will lead the way for HBHS.
“We were young last year and the kids have bought into what we are doing here,” Franklin added.
“I think it’s going to pay off.”
HBHS and Wadley kick off the local high school football season tonight in New Site at 7 p.m.
