First Baptist Church is beefing up men’s lives with a “Steak Out” event Aug. 10.

The $12 steak dinner is an outreach to men in the community and in the church said Hunter Baker, pastor of children and families at FBC.

“We’re excited to have the event and have men participate with us,” Baker said. He said the steak dinner is all about “spending time with each other and at the same time being able to challenge men in the community to follow the Lord and be godly men in their families.”

The dinner will feature a steak, baked potato, salad and dessert, as well as speaker Wayne Hall, former Alabama player and former Auburn defensive coordinator, who will speak about what it means to be a Christian man.

“In the south we have a tendency to all claim to be Christians, but that doesn’t seem to be indicated by the way we live,” Baker said.

The dinner will be from 5:30–7 p.m. in the church fellowship hall.

To register, call the church office at 256-825-6232 and leave your name and how you like your steak cooked with the secretary or Baker. Baker said people can pay at the dinner by cash or check.

Registration deadline is Monday.
