Seizure of drugs, guns, $16,000
Published 12:13pm Monday, July 16, 2012A search of an Alexander City residence on Thursday resulted in one arrest and the seizure of more than $16,000.
Omeko Leste Pearson, 37, of Alexander City, was charged with possession of marijuana, first degree, possession of controlled substance with intent to distribute, receiving stolen property, third degree, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Money wasn’t the only item confiscated during the operation, which was a joint effort by the Crime Interdiction Task Force, Tallapoosa County Narcotics Task Force, Alexander City Police Department and New Site Police Department.
Authorities seized 14 grams of marijuana, 10 grams of cocaine, electronic scales and several firearms. One of the weapons was confirmed as stolen.
Officers also impounded two vehicles, a 2004 Jaguar S-Type and a Cadillac Deville.
Investigator Fred White, with the Tallapoosa County Narcotics Task Force said that authorities believe Pearson was a middle level dealer, primarily distributing marijuana and cocaine.
“We are expecting to make more arrests in connection with this case,” White said.
Investigations into the possession and distribution of illegal narcotics is ongoing in Tallapoosa County.
