Tigers finish second at Hornet Inv.
Published 2:18pm Thursday, April 26, 2012Sporting new golden track suits with “Tigers” down the backs, the DHS boys’ track team celebrated the end of the regular season with a second place finish in the Hornet Invitational at Beauregard High School Saturday. The boys’ team was paced by Zach Mosley, who won the 1600 and 3200 meter races, finished third in the 800 meters, and was a part of the winning 4 x 800 meter relay. Mosley reduced his 1600 meter time by five seconds and is currently second in the state at that distance and 3200 meters. Andrekus Rowe finished fourth in the 1600 meters and broke the five minute barrier, clocking in at 4:59.94 for another personal best. Zack Johnson rounded out Dadeville’s scoring in that event with a sixth place showing.
The Tigers had three of the top four finishers in the 3200 meters, with Mosley, Rowe and Johnson finishing first, third and fourth respectively. In the 800 meters, Mosley, Johnson and Rowe were third, fifth and sixth.
Darius Miller again contributed in the sprints, finishing sixth in the 200 meters and seventh in the 400.
The boys 4 x 400 relay, comprised of Darius Miller, Gabe Sanders, Tamarcus Moore and Jaricus Moss finished fifth.
Mosley, Johnson, Rowe and Devin Johnson combined to win the boys’ 4×800 relay.
Trey Glenn also had a fine showing, finishing second in the triple jump, sixth in the long jump and sixth in the 300 meter hurdles.
Senior Serdarryen Pulliam continued his sterling season, easily outdistancing the field in the Javelin and Shot Put while finishing eighth in the Discus.
The girls’ team keeps getting quality performances. Zikieria Norris finished eighth in the 200 meters and third in the 400. The 4 x 400 relay of Norris, Adreana Heard, Deshana Johnson and Hallie Cox placed fourth, while the 4 x 800 relay of Heard, Johnson, Cox and Teanashia Little placed third.
The track team will go back to Beauregard High School Friday and Saturday for sectionals.
