Anytime Fitness adds app for ‘Anytime Health’
Published 1:41pm Monday, February 6, 2012Health and fitness are not just about eating healthy and working out anymore. It’s about technology.
Anytime Fitness in Alexander City, along with other Anytime Fitness facilities in the U.S., has incorporated a free ‘Anytime Health’ app for members and nonmembers to calculate how many calories they’re burning, watch new exercise videos and track their workouts through the Internet as well as smart phones and tablets.
Manager of Anytime Fitness, Rina Smith, said we live in such a busy and high tech society that it is important to have a fitness program people can use on the go.
“You can download the app and then you can track your calories,” Smith said. “It allows you to put in your height, weight and age and from there you can decide if you want to lose or gain weight. You can put your calories in, and if you’re wanting to lose weight the app shows you how many calories you need to eat and how much you need to exercise.”
Smith said the app also has access to healthy diets including diets that help you lose weight, prevent high cholesterol, promote heart health, and add high protein. Also if someone wants to work on a certain part of their body, there are videos that show just how to accomplish that goal.
According to an Anytime Fitness press release, the app is basically an “online support system that allows members to talk to virtual trainers, download new recipes, and get tips from people who have lost more than 100 pounds, to mobile apps that let you track your diet and exercise routines.”
“I love it and use it on a daily basis because it helps me keep up with everything,” Smith said. “When you use it long enough, it helps you make a lifestyle change instead of something temporary. I think it’s a really good idea.”
Smith said those wishing to sign up for the app or Internet access can get help with sign up at Anytime Fitness.
Full access to Anytime Health (www.anytimehealth.com) is free to all members of Anytime Fitness, and a basic version of the app is also free to non-members. However, a $49.95 annual fee is charged if nonmembers want premium access to the website and app.
