Wellington seeks to fill 125 jobs
Published 9:40pm Thursday, November 3, 2011A representative from Wellington Industries said the company is still on track to begin manufacturing at the start of 2012. The company is accepting job applications for multiple positions while the building is being completed.
“We are still on target for mid-January 2012,” the Management Representative said. “It could still be delayed depending on the progression of the building, however.”
The Michigan-based automotive supplier announced its plans to locate in the Lake Martin Area Industrial Park in Kellyton in July of this year. Wellington is currently renovating a 60,000-square-foot building to fit the company’s needs.
Wellington Industries is an automotive stamping, welding and assembly plant, the representative said, and manufactures all of “the parts you can’t see in automobiles.” The company supplies the “Big 3”, or Chrysler, Ford and General Motors.
Wellington is still accepting applications for positions at the plant, which is expected to create 125 jobs once it is up and running and invest $8.9 million into the local economy.
Alabama Industrial Development Training (AIDT) is fielding resumes for hourly positions including electrician candidates, mechanical/machine repair candidates, resistance and robotic weld technician candidates, tool and die repair candidates, machine operator candidates, die setter candidates and production-HI LO driver candidates. To apply for these positions, the Wellington representative advised that candidates visit www.aidt.edu/jobs and follow the on-screen instructions.
For salaried positions, the representative said, interested parties can contact the Lake Martin Area Economic Development Alliance.
Wellington President John Brodowsky spoke to The Outlook in a July interview, where he expressed his excitement over locating to the area.
“We are sincerely glad to be here,” Brodowsky said. “All the people that we have met have been really, really great to work with and we’re looking forward to being here in Lake Martin. The owner’s excited. He was really impressed by the ceremony and the welcome here. We’re glad to be here and we’re anxious to get going. The sooner we can get the building finished, the sooner we can get people hired and working down here.”
