CACC’s Jennings headed to NJCAA Hall of Fame
Published 6:38pm Friday, April 29, 2011After a successful golf career and the rebuilding of the CACC golf program, head coach Dave Jennings has been elected to the NJCAA Golf Hall of Fame.
“Obviously, it is a great honor to be inducted,” Jennings said.
“It’s a great testament to our program here at CACC.”
When the CACC program was dropped due to money issues in 2000, Jennings was the man to bring Trojan golf back to the forefront in 2001.
“I was contacted about getting some money together for the program and eventually they asked me if I wanted to coach,” Jennings said.
“I realized that with the CACC golf tradition, it wouldn’t be very hard to re-start the program, it only took me about 20 minutes to decide I wanted the job.”
Since Jennings took the position, the CACC program that has produced the likes of PGA golfers such as Gene Sauers, John Huston, Tera-Ulrick Johannson, Tjaart Van der Walt, Carl Pettersson and Soren Hansen, has consistently stayed at the top of the NJCAA golf rankings.
“We’re proud of the tradition of great golf that we have at CACC,” Jennings said.
“I am proud to represent the community of Alexander City and all the people who have accepted me over the years, the program is a testament to them.”
Jennings will be inducted on May 17 when the Trojans will be at the NJCAA Division 1 Golf Championship in Odessa, Tex.
