William T. Thweatt Industrial Park
Published 4:23pm Monday, April 4, 2011The Thweatt Industrial park currently has three tenants, two South Korean auto suppliers and a screen printing operation. The park has more than 400 acres of available space.
“Lot sizes can be developed to the needs of the prospect,” said Don McClellan, executive director of the Lake Martin Area Economic Development Alliance. “Located on the four-lane Highway 280, close to Interstate 85, this park is situated between Hyundai, Honda and Kia.”
The Thweatt Industrial Park was created from a partnership between the City of Dadeville and Tallapoosa County. Both the County Commission and the City have employed creative, “out-of-the-box” solutions to establish a park where manufacturing can be successful and profitable.
“Both the county and the city are very pro business and they work with industries to make them successful and profitable,” McClellan said.
The park includes a four-lane entrance and one finished side street.
“The City of Dadeville provides water, wastewater service and gas service to the park and has reserves available in each of those utilities,” McClellan said. “Alabama Power supplies electricity, and Alabama Power is the oldest economic development company in the state, so it works well with industry to provide for its power needs in a timely manner.”
City and county incentives to prospective companies have varied, but they have been tailored to meet their specific needs,” McClellan said.
