Four unique buildings available on former Russell Corp. campus

Published 4:16pm Monday, April 4, 2011

The former corporate headquarters of Russell Corp., a Fortune 500 company now owned by Fruit of the Loom, has been reconfigured and a substantial portion of the campus will be available for new industry, office and retail space.
The first four available buildings range from an 85,000 sq. ft. corporate office to a 250,000 sq. ft. manufacturing/distribution facility.
“Fruit of the Loom is planning to make this a premier industrial park,” said Don McClellan, executive director of the Lake Martin Area Economic Development Alliance. “Because of the available buildings at the new Central Alabama Business Park, industry can come in and begin manufacuring within a short period of time.”
The park, which will share space with Fruit of the Loom manufacturing plants, is located directly on Highway 280 in Alexander City.
“On top of the buildings available, the available workforce in the Alexander City area has skills that you’d not normally find in a small community, like over 100 IT people and over 100 customer service experts,” McClellan said.
Because of Russell Corp.’s manufacturing needs, the industrial park has approximately 7-8 million gallons of potable water and waste water service available daily.
