196th anniversary of the Battle of Horseshoe Bend
Horseshoe Bend National Military Park honors the anniversary of the Battle of the Horseshoe on March 27. This annual event recreates frontier life in the year 1814 and emphasizes the importance of the battle in U.S. history through demonstrations and interpretive programs.
Dixie Sailing Club Regatta
Boaters and spectators are invited to enjoy the Dixie Sailing Club’s annual Punchbowl Regatta at Dixie Sailing Club at The Ridge.
Tennessee Militia Drill
Horseshoe Bend National Military Park volunteers dressed as 1814 Tennessee Militia provide cannon or musket firing demonstrations throughout the summer.
MainStreet Farmers’ Market
The MainStreet Farmer’s Market is open every Saturday morning from 7 to 11 a.m. from June through October on Broad Street in downtown Alexander City. Fresh vegetables, fruits, honey, honey products, jams, jellies, preserves, salsa, fried pies, coffee, herb plants, ornamental plants and more are sold each week. All vendors are Alabama Extension Service Certified Growers.
Children’s Harbor Scavenger Hunt
Join in on the fun at the Russell Lands On Lake Martin Digital Scavenger Hunt Benefiting Children’s Harbor. Explore Lake Martin by boat, stopping to take snapshots of the area’s famous landmarks. The teams with the most photographs win.
Art on the Lake
Dozens of artists from across the Southeast will gather at Children’s Chapel on the Children’s Harbor campus for this annual art exhibit featuring pottery, jewelry, paintings and more. A portion of sales is donated to Children’s Harbor, an organization that supports seriously ill children and their families.
Memorial Day Weekend Concert
Russell Lands On Lake Martin kicks off its Summer Concert Series with a lakefront concert at the Lake Martin Amphitheater. Thousands attend this concert and previous musical guests include The Marshall Tucker Band, the Atlanta Rhythm Section and Kansas.
Lakeside church services
Observe the Sabbath on the shores of Lake Martin at one of several services held by local churches: Church in the Pines on the Children’s Harbor campus and the Church of the Living Waters at StillWaters.
Kitty Dark Kids Arts Camp
Introduce your child to the world of the creative arts at the Kitty Dark Arts Camp. Held each year at Benjamin Russell High School in Alexander City, the camp gives children a chance to learn drama/music, mixed media, mosaics, drawing, painting and creative movement.
Alexander City Jazz Fest
Join music lovers for two nights of free concerts at one of Lake Martin’s biggest musical events of the year – The Alexander City Jazz Festival. The annual music festival features six bands with Friday night performances at Strand Park in Alexander City and Saturday night performances at the Lake Martin Amphitheater. Jazz Fest features blues, rock, jazz and bluegrass music by regional and national touring artists.
Lil’Calypso Art Fest
Head to Chuck’s Marina in mid-summer for the annual Lil’ Calypso Art Fest. The art show features a variety of artwork, including pottery, paintings, photography, jewelry and glass.
Fourth of July Boat Parade
Join scores of boats in Russell Marine’s annual Fourth of July Boat Parade at Kowaliga Marina on the morning of Independence Day. Participants decorate their boats and compete in several categories – biggest flag, most creative, most patriotic.
Fourth of July Blast
Russell Lands continues its Summer Concert Series with its Fourth of July Blast. Head to the Lake Martin Amphitheater the night of July 4 for a concert followed by one of the Southeast’s biggest fireworks displays.
AquaPalooza, a worldwide Sea Ray event, is held on Lake Martin at Kowaliga Bay each summer. Thousands of boat owners and music lovers turn out for this day-long, on-water concert.
Taste of Dadeville
Taste the fare from area restaurants at the annual Taste of Dadeville. The event also includes a silent auction, live music and a raffle for cash and prizes.
Muster on the Tallapoosa
Horseshoe Bend National Military Park hosts “Muster on the Tallapoosa” each August. The event includes educational programs about the history of Alabama in the 19th century, as well as cannon and gun demonstrations.
Labor Day Weekend Concert
The Russell Lands Concert Series ends its season of music on Lake Martin with the Labor Day Weekend Concert. Previous performers include Sister Hazel, Corey Smith and The Benjy Davis Project.
Fall & Winter
Sarah Carlisle Towery Art Colony
Two nationally recognized artists headline a week-long workshop for adult artists on the beautiful Children’s Harbor campus on the shores of Lake Martin. Participants will learn new techniques from instructors and showcase their talents in an art show at the end of the week.
Scotalina Tu Tu
The Dixie Sailing Club hosts the Scotalina Tu Tu on Lake Martin the last weekend in October each year. This event is open to members and non-members of the Dixie Sailing Club and attracts sailors from across the Southeast.
An Eclectic Christmas
An Eclectic Christmas is an outdoor, walk-through drama revisiting the true story of the first Christmas. Visitors will walk through the streets of Bethlehem, visit the field where the shepherds encountered the angels and see the wise men as they journey.
Downtown Dadeville comes alive each December during the city’s Hometown Candlelight Christmas. Downtown Dadeville will be decorated with thousands of Christmas lights and luminaries and carolers will serenade shoppers. Downtown shops will be open both nights offering unique gifts for the holidays.
