Friday Area Tournament scores

The No. 6 Dadeville Tigers and the boys and girls teams at Central-Coosa won area tournament games on Friday to secure a spot in sub-regional play next week.

Dadeville, the host of the Class 4A, Area 5 Tournament, routed Holtiville 85-54. The Tigers (19-5) will face Beauregard on Monday at 6 p.m. in the title game after the Hornets advanced with a 53-47 win over Elmore County.

In the Class 3A, Area 5 Tournaments at Handley, both Central-Coosa squads moved on, as the boys cruised by Marbury 56-34, and the Lady Cougars knocked off Beulah 55-41. Each team will square off with Handley for the top spot in the area on Monday, beginning with the girls game at 5:30 p.m. Handley’s boys downed Beulah 71-51, and the girls edged Marbury 48-45.

Reeltown and Horseshoe Bend were eliminated with losses in the Class 2A, Area 8 Tournament. The Rebels fell to LaFayette 60-57, while the Generals were beaten by Lanett 71-41.

The Edward Bell Bears saw their season come to a close at St. Jude, as the defending Class 1A state champions lost to Notasulga 65-50. The host Pirates slipped by Loachapoka 63-61.
