HBHS girls win tournament

Published 8:28pm Tuesday, January 18, 2011

The Horseshoe Bend girls basketball team won first place in the Tallapoosa County Tournament last week. Coach Mike Boyd and these girls are a deserving group of young ladies who want to be state champs for us and they can be! Congratulations and God bless you.

Remember: if it is to be, it is up to me, and together you can do it. Truly you are a great team!

Sympathy is extended to the late Millie Carter’s family. The late Millie Carter was a child of God whom all loved. Her children and their families stood by this precious lady, a loving person. She is now with her Lord!

Happy birthday to Bobby Smith, Mary Collins Wright, Rosa Mae Golden, J.D. Knight who will be 86-years-old on Jan. 19, Waverly Chambers, Roger Coker, Jean McCreight, April Chambers, Jonathan Anderson and Myril Giddens.

Our prayer list includes J.D. Knight, Dylan Oliver, Atha Gamble, MacWayne Nolen, Vicki Satterfield, Linda Chambers, Howard Smith, Tony and Amy Jones, Kenneth Stewart, Cora Hamrick, Dianne Vickers, Helen Oliver and anyone else I didn’t know.

Dylan Oliver was in UAB Hospital last week for surgery. He is a fine young man, so please remember Dylan in your prayers. We love you, Dylan!

Cora Hamrick has been very sick, so please remember Cora in your prayers. We love you, Cora!

Picking and Grinning was great on Saturday night with Leon McCain’s Kountry Kritters Band performing in a fascinating manner. Joel Graham and Joe Mapp’s singing and guitar playing with Jeffery Graham as our drummer add to the band. The food was delicious but we missed Cora’s food, also.

Nell Boone, who is Casey Davis’ grandmother of Rock Springs, visited Bryan and me on Sunday afternoon after eating at the General’s Café. Nell is a truly lovely cousin of ours whom we rever.

Happy anniversary to Donnie and Faye Jones. You are a special couple to know.

Continue to follow in Jesus’ footsteps because He is the answer!
