Tigers destroy Holtville in area win

Published 10:18pm Tuesday, January 11, 2011

Dadeville followed up its second consecutive Tallapoosa County Basketball Tournament championship by more than doubling up Holtville in a 88-40 win Tuesday night.

The Tigers got out to a quick start out-pacing the Bulldogs 19-9 through the first stanza, but the rout was on from there.

The Tigers pressure attack forced Holtville into countless turnovers, which quickly turned into points.

Dadeville nearly ran the Bulldogs out of the gym with a 26-7 second quarter to take a 45-16 halftime.

The Tigers didn’t look back from there. Dadeville added another 26 points in the third frame by holding Holtville to just eight points and cruised away to the easy win.

Zeke Heard led all scorers with 24 points for the game.

Terry Toler followed close behind with 21 points.

Kieran Sturdivant also chipped in 15 points while Quen Alvies added 12 points for the night.

The Tigers will take to the road Friday night when they face Central-Coosa.
