President didn’t address Gulf’s problems

Dear Editor,

Because of my position with Children’s Harbor I generally do not comment publically about personal opinions because I do not want to bring undue attention or criticism to our organization.

However, in times like these I must speak out and as I do, please understand these are my opinions only and do not necessarily reflect those of others associated with our organization.

Tuesday night, I was disappointed and dismayed at the lack of leadership shown by our President and my condemnation must also be focused on all of our national elected officials if they have sat around while our citizens on the gulf coast are absorbing a national tragedy that is yet to be fully understood. I feel our President should have addressed the spill, should have admitted and apologized for the perception that his administration has been slow to respond, and then focused solely on the matter at hand with no mention of alternative sources and the other pie in the sky agendas that he has at this time. People are in grief over their losses and the perceptions that their lives are ruined. How many speech writers does it take to understand what people really need to hear?

I am not an expert on oil wells but I do know that if there is a leak then the first priority is to stop the leak and minimize the damages.

It is my opinion that this whole fiasco should be a warning to all of us that our national government is broken and is not able to be our savior.

God help us and it is only He who can.
