Local authorities arrested two Jackson’s Gap residents Tuesday on drug-related charges.

Tallapoosa County Narcotics Task Force investigators, with the assistance of the Jackson’s Gap Police Department, served arrest warrants to Justin Michael Reeder, 19, of Jackson’s Gap and Robert Damien Hall Strickland, 19, also of Jackson’s Gap.

Reeder was arrested and charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana second degree, while Strickland was arrested and charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, according to a press release issued Thursday morning by investigator Fred White with the narcotics task force.

Both suspects were transported to the Tallapoosa County Jail and are awaiting bond.

White said authorities seized about 35 grams of marijuana in the operations.

“That’s between the distribution of it and the seizing during the arrests,” he said.

He said the arrests were a result of a three-month investigation into the distribution of marijuana and they expect to make more arrests as this investigation continues.

“This is a joint investigation with the task force and the police department,” he said. “I can say with confidence that more arrests will be made in conjunction with these arrests.”
