Lady Trojans blast CVCC
Published 6:20pm Thursday, April 15, 2010Chattahoochee Valley was no match for the Central Alabama softball team, as the Lady Trojans lit up the Lady Pirates for 26 hits and 22 runs in a two-game sweep.
The Lady Trojans are now 31-10 and 11-1 in ACCC play.
Danielle Backer was 3-for-3 with an RBI in CACC’s 4-0 win in game one. Hagen Vickers and Vannessa Peterson both had two hits and an RBI.
Haley Johnson allowed six hits in a complete game shutout and struck out three.
In the second game, the Lady Trojans exploded for 11 runs in the sixth inning in an 18-0 thumping of CVCC.
Samantha Hamby pitched a no-hitter, while walking two and fanning six batters.
Vickers knocked in three more runs and had two hits. Bailey Braughton was 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Peterson had another two-hit performance.
Eleven different players had hits for the Lady Trojans, and 10 players drove in a run.
CACC hosts MMI (27-20, 7-7) on Saturday at 1 p.m.
