Local authorities arrested 16 Tallapoosa and Coosa County residents on drug-related charges this week during a detail dubbed Operation Wildfire.

The Tallapoosa County Narcotics Task Force, Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Department, Alexander City Police Department and the Alexander City Housing Authority worked together to execute the four-day operation.

A press release from the Tallapoosa County Narcotics Task Force said investigators seized $2,221 in cash, approximately 50 grams of marijuana and approximately 10 grams of crack cocaine over the course of the operation.

Fred White, an investigator with the Tallapoosa County Narcotics Task Force, said the roundup began Monday with an undercover drug sting near a convenience store on U.S. Highway 22 in Alexander City.

Investigators used a “buy bust” scenario during the drug sting to arrest Ronnie Russell Jr., aka Lil Flip or Tim, 25, of Alexander City, and Magnus Foster, aka Baby Chris, 27, of Alexander City, according to the statement.
