Who’s more corrupt

Dear Editor,

I have lived in Alabama my entire life, but I have to say that this bingo controversy is the most downright ridiculous “campaign” I have ever seen. Am I not right that this country is supposed to be “government of the people, by the people and for the people?”

First, Alabama needs constitutional reform. Our state has the most antiquated constitution in the nation not to mention the longest one.

Alabama’s Legislature has to pass a constitutional amendment just to bring the bingo issue to a vote by the people.

Right now, Gov. Riley seems to be acting like a dictator. He appointed Mr. Tyson as the head of his “task force.” Well, Mr. Tyson accepted campaign money from Milton McGregor, one of the men whose business he is trying to shut down. That just screams corruption to me. If I were Mr. Tyson, I would be so embarrassed by this fact that I think I would resign. Whose side is he on any way?

In my opinion, we should let Alabama citizens have the bingo and set up tax and regulations for it. The tax should go to education. We should also have an education lottery.

Think about it, do you really think that these two things will corrupt our society more than it already is? It’s highly unlikely. We should use the money to improve our future citizens’ education. Our children are our future. They deserve a better education.
